Teach Us Consent, Ongoing

How can we transform the idea of ‘teaching consent’ into an investible proposition? In March of 2021, Chanel Contos—a masters student at University College London—called for testimonies via Instagram from Australians who had experienced sexual assault or rape while at school or in the years soon afterwards. Her post inspired a social media movement and sparked a national conversation resulting in the submission of more than 6,700 testimonies and the receipt of 45,000 petition signatures
calling for change.

The challenge was how to parlay this civic engagement into
a sustainable, impactful and investible proposition.

Working exclusively over Zoom and within MDMD’s collaboration platform, we built a coalition of stakeholders to deliver foundational brand and commercialisation strategies.

We achieved this by working through MDMD’s strategy framework and reaching out to our professional network globally. The process was supported by a substantial coalition of individual and organisational collaborators who were motivated to help Chanel sustain the existing civic and political engagement she had generated while designing an investible proposition.
